Arista Records Album Discography, Part 16: Arista Latin/Arista Texas
Arista Texas was a label of Arista Nashville that specialized in Latin music originating from the Lone Star State, specifically acts that were from the capital city of Texas and the surrounding city of San Antonio. In 1996, Arista renamed the label to Arista Latin, and decided to launch Arista Austin, a label that would focused on acts from the same region that did not fit into the category of Latin music. The label was closed in 1997.
Acts on the label under its original name included Flaco Jiménez (a player for multiple rock giants who seemed to hop from label to label when he was on his own), the septet La Diferenzia, and singer Joel Nava.
All releases under Arista Texas were part of Arista’s standard numbering system of the period, which had recently been adapted for the near-industry-wide trend of deriving stock numbers from their UPC codes.
